The Kururi Train Line which runs east to west across the Boso Peninsula offers direct access to the natural wonder of Chiba Prefecture. Riders can easily travel north to the Takedagawa Cosmos Road to enjoy the fields of flowers, or head south to see the beautiful fall colors surrounding Kameyama Lake.
After hearing about Kururi’s current tourism promotional campaign, called the Kurukuru-Kururi-Kururisen Mysterious Trip (クル来るくるり久留里線ふしぎなトリップ), I hopped on the bus from Kamogawa to check out the first stop on the line, Kururi!
Traveling with a couple of the Chiba-kun Ambassadors and Chiba-kun himself, our first stop was lunch at La Petite Maison. Recently built, this quaint café is a short taxi ride from the station and is located right next to the Eleven Auto Camp Park. The area offers a gorgeous view of the Kururi rice paddies and is filled with cherry blossoms waiting to erupt in beautiful shades of pink and white come spring.
The French themed café is a great place to enjoy a stylish lunch. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, a fashionable menu, and friendly staff.
The Eleven Auto Camp Park next door is a popular place to bring the family during extended weekends and summer holidays. The camp ground is kept with many seasonal flowering plants and is also a favorite place to do flower viewing, especially during the cherry blossom season in late spring. The grounds fill up fast, so if you’d like to make a reservation to camp under the cherry blossoms, it is recommend to make reservations three months in advanced. Tents, tarts, and all sorts of camping gear is available to rent, there are also small log cabins that can sleep five. You can find more information on both the café and the camp ground below.
